Seasonal SEO Advantages and Disadvantages
There are two questions to ask yourself for your business if you plan to take advantage of SEO for seasonal purposes. First, you should figure your percentage of seasonal sales to determine if seasonal SEO is beneficial to your company. Also, make sure your seasonal SEO is secondary to your primary SEO strategies. While determining if seasonal SEO will be an advantage or disadvantage to your business, you should ask yourself a few questions.
Proper Planning Prevents Poor Performance
Is your business strictly holiday related, or are you just wanting to optimize your holiday sales? If your business is holiday related, using holiday keywords and content would be the most beneficial.
However, you still want to assure that you begin this process more than just a few months in advance if you want to make high ranks by the holidays. You should plan on starting your SEO strategy up to 8 or 9 months prior to the holiday. Some businesses gear their sales around the holidays, and this is when they want to increase their sales. Seasonal SEO may be beneficial, to plan your overall SEO tactics around this strategy.
Your Secondary Keywords Should Never Take Priority Over Your Primary Keywords
Since Search Engine Optimization doesn’t happen overnight, it is important to assure that when optimizing seasonal keywords, you don’t want to take away from stronger keywords that can pull consumers away from your business goals. While seasonal keywords may be more available, assure that you are not pulling away from keywords that are strong and important in pulling in clientele. This is a good way to risk losing more pertinent traffic to gain some or less seasonal traffic.
If you are unsure whether or not seasonal SEO is valuable to you and your company, this is something you should speak with your SEO expert about.
